Steffen Slumstrup verdensmester i slutspilstudier

About Steffen Slumstrup Nielsen

Steffen is actually a normal person with a family, children and a job. In reality he is a genius. In less than 10 years he revolutionized chess study composition. He has ideas that others never even dream of and uses sophisticated technology to realize his stories on the chessboard. I’ve been fortunate to work with him over the past few years. He has greatly influenced my thinking. I know for a fact that I would never have gotten this far without Steffen.

The WCCI 2019-21 results are out. After Gurgenidze, Visokosov, Didukh, Pervakov (several times) now follows Steffen Nielsen as the 5th World Champion of Study Composition. He is the first from the “West”. We warmly congratulate him!

How does he manage to come up with so many ideas? He can invent complex mechanisms, but also create small miracles with only 5 pieces. He is an universal composer.

He may be the first composer to achieve the Grandmaster title in just 9 years (3 FIDE Albums) and he even has a helpmate in the FIDE Album.

Please take a look at his (and the other top) studies from WCCI:

You will be amazed!
