Alle fire kvartfinaler blev afgjort efter de første to partier. Leko vandt sikkert begge partier mod Rublevsky, der i andet parti satsede voldsomt i en stilling, der var remis. Gelfand og Radjabov vandt begge med Sort i første parti, og hverken Shirov eller Morozevich var i stand til at slå tilbage. Ivanchuk blev den sidste, som kvaliferede sig til semifinalerne ved at besejre Bacrot.
Radjabovs sejr kom efter en grov fejl af Morozevich, der i en teknisk vundet stilling satte et tårn i slag.
